No breakfast club

There will be no breakfast club tomorrow (Thursday) to allow time again to clear paths in and around school. Please check the website in the morning, particularly if it continues to snow as forecast.

Tuesday 22 January 2013

Snow update

There will be NO breakfast club in the morning to allow time for us to assess the school site and weather forecast. I will make a decision ASAP in the morning and update the website and twitter account.

School closed

Sorry everyone but school is now closed. I had thought we could open as the main roads were clear and the snow wasn't forecast for today. However, by 8am driving conditions had worsened considerably and staff couldn't travel. (I made it as far as Pontyclun and had to turn back!). Conditions for driving are bad around school and I hope parents understand that we do not make the decision to close lightly. I hope we can open tomorrow as snow isn't forecast - but thats what they said about today!

Fun in the snow

We had a great time this afternoon building snowmen. Check out the photos on the gallery.
Thank you to all the parents who helped clear the yard, car park and pavements this morning. It is due to snow again over night and in the morning but as long as the main roads stay clear we should be able to open. Please check the website in the morning. I am very pleased with the amount of visitors we had to the website this weekend - over 1800 visits (or 'hits' if you are hip and with it!)! I will be sending out a questionnaire at the end of the week asking your opinion about the site and what else you would like to see on it so please fill it in, your opinion is very important.

Snow update

School will be open tomorrow as no more snow is forecast overnight and the main roads are clear. Just in case, can all parents check the website in the morning (I'll update it by 7:30 am). Mr. Thomas has been to school already and cleared paths from the gates to the doors. However, the pavements and laybys around school are treacherous and parents should take care in the morning. We hope to let the children play out in the snow at sometime tomorrow if it is safe and not too icy, so can parents make sure children wear appropriate clothing - gloves in particular.
Please check the website this week for updates as snow is forecast again for Monday night and all day Tuesday.

Friday 18 January 2013

School Closed

Well the snow did fall as forecast and I have had to close school for today. More snow is forecast for the rest of today and again on Monday and Tuesday, so please check the website again on Monday to see if we are open. If anyone makes a great snowman today send us a picture and I'll put it on the website. Email your pictures to: llanhariprimary@gmail.com

Monday 14 January 2013

Snow update

As we haven't had much snow (I imagine there are a few disappointed children this morning!), school will be open as usual

Sunday 13 January 2013

Snow watch

Well it has started snowing at my house but I don't know if it will last! (my little girl is doing a snow dance in hope that it does!). Please check the website in the morning if it does snow heavy over night, I will try to make a decision and update the website by 7:30am.

School council

The school council presented their plans for new playground equipment to Mrs. Coates this week. They have carried out a survey with all the pupils as to what equipment and activities they would like at playtime. Following the survey they created a plan of the yard with zoned areas for different activities. They also completed an order for new equipment that came in just over their budget along with storage facilities. They presented a very convincing plan that has been approved. We look forward to seeing the new benches, shed, play equipment and theatre in place later this half term!
